JIDS is owned and published by Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas), a private university in Denpasar, Bali, and is managed by an independent editorial board that alone decides what is published.

The publisher provides funding, staff time and hosting but does not take part in editorial decisions. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the content of the journal and reports on its performance to the publisher once a year. Editorial board members are appointed for renewable terms of three years on the basis of their expertise in the journal's scope.
