Data Availability Policy
Every research article in JIDS must include a Data Availability Statement that tells readers whether and how the data behind the findings can be accessed.
- Where: a short section titled "Data Availability Statement" placed after the Conflict of Interest Statement and before the References.
- Quantitative data: authors are encouraged to deposit anonymised datasets, questionnaires and analysis scripts in a public repository (for example Zenodo, Figshare, OSF, or the Indonesian national repository RIN Dataverse) and cite the dataset with its DOI.
- Qualitative data: interview transcripts and field notes may be withheld to protect informants. The statement must then explain why and describe what can be shared on reasonable request (for example the interview guide and the coding framework).
- Secondary and official data: cite the original source (for example BPS, ministry reports, or international databases) with access dates.
- Editors and reviewers may ask to see the data during review to check the results. Authors who cannot supply data that underpin their findings may have the manuscript declined.
Example statements:
- "The data that support the findings of this study are openly available in [repository] at https://doi.org/[DOI]."
- "The interview data are not publicly available to protect the confidentiality of informants. The interview guide and coding framework are available from the corresponding author on reasonable request."
- "Data sharing is not applicable to this article as no new data were created or analysed."
