Correction and Retraction Policy

Correction and Retraction Policy

Jurnal Analisis Hukum (JAH) is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. Published articles are considered final and are not altered after publication, except through the formal procedures set out below, in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Correction (Erratum / Corrigendum)

A correction is published when a significant error is found in a published article that affects the accuracy of the content or the scholarly record, but does not invalidate the article's main findings or arguments. Examples include errors in author names or affiliations, incorrect citations or references, and inaccuracies in tables, data, or legal provisions cited.

  • Erratum: correction of an error introduced by the journal during the editorial or production process.
  • Corrigendum: correction of an error made by the authors.

Corrections are published as a separate notice in the next available issue, linked to the original article, and registered with Crossref. The corrected version of the article is also made available, with a note indicating the date and nature of the correction. Minor errors that do not affect the meaning or scholarly record (such as typographical errors) will not normally be corrected.

2. Expression of Concern

The editors may publish an Expression of Concern when there is credible evidence of serious problems with a published article, but an investigation is still ongoing or the evidence is not yet conclusive. The notice will be linked to the article and updated or replaced by a retraction or correction once the matter is resolved.

3. Retraction

An article may be retracted if:

  • There is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable due to misconduct (such as data or source fabrication or falsification) or major error;
  • The article contains plagiarism or constitutes redundant publication;
  • The article was published without proper authorization, infringes copyright, or reports unethical research;
  • The peer review process was compromised or manipulated.

Retractions may be requested by the authors or initiated by the editors following an investigation under the Allegations of Research Misconduct procedure. When an article is retracted:

  • A retraction notice titled "Retraction: [article title]" is published, stating the reason for the retraction and who requested it, and is linked to the original article;
  • The original article remains available on the website, but every page of the PDF is clearly marked "RETRACTED";
  • The retraction is registered with Crossref so that the DOI reflects the article's status.

4. Article Removal

In exceptional circumstances, such as defamatory or unlawful content, infringement of others' legal rights, or content that poses a serious risk if acted upon, the article may be removed from the website. In such cases, the metadata (title and authors) will remain, accompanied by a notice explaining that the article has been removed for legal reasons.

5. How to Request a Correction or Retraction

Authors, readers, or other parties may request a correction or retraction by contacting the Editor-in-Chief through the contact page or by email at [email jurnal], providing the article title, DOI, and a clear explanation of the issue. All requests will be reviewed by the editors, and the authors of the article will be consulted before a final decision is made.
