Plagiarism Screening Policy

Plagiarism Screening Policy

The editorial board of Holistica Pharmatica Scientia maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism. We are committed to publishing only original, high-quality research that adheres to the highest standards of academic and scientific integrity. All authors submitting their manuscripts to this journal must ensure that their work is entirely original and properly cited.

1. Screening Process and Tools (Turnitin)

To prevent academic misconduct, every manuscript submitted to our journal will undergo a rigorous similarity check during the initial screening phase (prior to the peer-review process). The editorial team officially utilizes Turnitin, an industry-leading plagiarism detection software, to systematically evaluate the originality of the text against global databases of published literature, academic archives, and web content.

2. Acceptable Similarity Rate

The maximum acceptable similarity index for any manuscript submitted to Holistica Pharmatica Scientia is strictly 20%. However, the editorial board evaluates the Turnitin similarity report comprehensively, taking the following exclusion filters into account:

Exclusions: The reference list (bibliography), properly formatted quotations, and author affiliations are automatically excluded from the similarity percentage.
Minor Matches: Isolated text matches of less than 1% or common scientific terminology/methodological phrasing will be carefully reviewed by the editor to distinguish between standard scientific jargon and actual plagiarism.

3. Actions and Sanctions

If plagiarism, self-plagiarism (text-recycling), or unacceptable levels of similarity are detected through the Turnitin report, the editorial board will take the following actions depending on the stage of discovery:

During Initial Screening: If the similarity index exceeds 20% due to improper paraphrasing or uncredited sources, the manuscript will be immediately returned to the author for major revision or outright rejected, depending on the severity.
During the Review Process: If a reviewer detects plagiarism, the review process will be halted immediately, and the manuscript will be declined.
After Publication: If plagiarism is proven after the article has been published, the journal will conduct a formal investigation following COPE guidelines. This will result in the immediate retraction of the article, a formal retraction notice published on the journal's website, and potential notification to the authors' affiliated institutions.
