NEW MEDIA DALAM MEMBANTU KINERJA HUMAS POKDARWIS MEMPROMOSIKAN WISATA ALAM DAN BUDAYA DI PONOROGO

Pokdarwis is an abbreviation of "kelompok sadar wisata" which is formed with an institutional structure consisting of people who strive to encourage a conducive tourism climate in their respective area. The development of a conducive climate is included in the "sapta marga" category, namely: safe, orderly, clean, cool, beautiful, friendly, and contains elements of memorable memories. Pokdarwis public relations plays an important role in promoting tourism promotion by providing innovative, creative, and effective information and education through the use of new media. Currently, the role of new media are extremely important, because the incredible shift of mass communication from conventional to public communities. The performance of Pokdarwis public relations in raising new tourism potential through the use of new media is research worth. The purpose of this study is to find how far the role of new media in helping Pokdarwis public relations attract visitors so that it is worthy of becoming a tourist destination. The methodology used in this study is descriptive qualitative with an active participant observation model and focus group discussion. The researcher is active as an observer and mingles in the field activities and conducts interviews. The case study was selected by examining the natural and cultural tourism park of Zor Sengon in Ponorogo, Plunturan Village. Pokdarwis public relations carries out its functions and duties not only from a conventional perspective but also from performance, including (1) fact-finding, (2) planning, (3) communication (4) evaluation by utilizing new media such as YouTube, Instagram, and other social media. The shift in the role of the media in the industrial era 4.0 coupled with the COVID-19 pandemic situation, makes the penetration of new media considered important at this time. The measurable strategy is part of the Pokdarwis PR performance itself. One of the efforts made to promote tourist destinations is by fostering small communities that develop into Pokdarwis and carry out the duties and functions of Public Relations.
