https://journal.undiknas.ac.id/index.php/tourism/article/view/7002

Abstract: This study examines the evolving landscape of Indonesian tourism through digital narratives and online community discourse in the post-pandemic period. Using netnographic methodology, we analyzed digital conversations across multiple platforms to understand how authenticity, sustainability, and cultural preservation intersect with tourism development in Indonesia. The research reveals three primary themes: the commodification of traditional culture, the emergence of sustainable tourism practices, and the role of digital storytelling in destination branding. Findings suggest that Indonesian tourism stakeholders are navigating complex tensions between economic recovery and cultural integrity, while digital platforms serve as crucial spaces for negotiating authentic tourism experiences. This study contributes to understanding tourism transformation in Southeast Asia and provides insights for sustainable destination management in digitally-mediated environments.

Keywords: Indonesia tourism, netnography, digital narratives, authenticity, sustainable tourism, cultural preservation
yuningsihAlfito Rafi Fachrezy

Abstract: This ethnographic study examines the complex dynamics of cultural heritage tourism in Indonesia, focusing on the interplay between sustainable development initiatives and local community participation. Through immersive fieldwork conducted across three distinct Indonesian destinations—Yogyakarta, Toraja, and Ubud—this research reveals how traditional communities navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by tourism development. The study employed participant observation, in-depth interviews, and cultural mapping techniques over an 18-month period. Findings indicate that while tourism generates significant economic benefits, successful implementation requires genuine community engagement, cultural preservation mechanisms, and adaptive management strategies. The research contributes to understanding how indigenous knowledge systems can inform sustainable tourism practices in Southeast Asian contexts, offering implications for policy makers and tourism practitioners seeking to balance economic development with cultural authenticity.

Keywords: cultural heritage tourism, sustainable development, community participation, Indonesia, ethnography
Karbala MadaniaAsshane Ramadhan Tanza Ratman

https://journal.undiknas.ac.id/index.php/tourism/article/view/7005

Abstract: Indonesia's tourism sector has experienced remarkable growth, positioning the archipelago as a significant player in Southeast Asia's tourism landscape. However, effective destination management remains challenging due to the country's geographical complexity, cultural diversity, and varying infrastructure development across regions. This study employs a comprehensive SWOT analysis framework, incorporating Internal Factor Analysis Summary (IFAS) and External Factor Analysis Summary (EFAS) matrices, to evaluate Indonesia's destination management strategies. Through systematic analysis of internal strengths and weaknesses alongside external opportunities and threats, this research identifies critical success factors for sustainable tourism development. The findings reveal that while Indonesia possesses substantial natural and cultural assets, strategic coordination, infrastructure development, and sustainable practices require immediate attention. The study provides actionable recommendations for policymakers, tourism operators, and destination management organizations to enhance Indonesia's competitive position in the global tourism market while preserving its unique cultural and environmental heritage.

Keywords: destination management, Indonesia tourism, SWOT analysis, sustainable tourism, strategic planning
Rahmi FadhellaDhivia Nabiila Rahidatul Aisy
